{made} — pink pointy kitty

Sewed this pink kitty for my Godchild as a Christmas present. Picking out the fabric was fun, went with two different patterns. A pink floral for the main body and a tiny polka-dot for the underbelly.

The first attempt went bust, some of the seams popped when I was trying to stuff it. I think it was mostly my sewing got too close to the edge of the fabric. So, I recut all the pieces and started over, this time taking every step a little slower and really focusing on the details. It turned great and the stuffing went pretty well.

I added the felt stripes on the head only, I eliminated the back stripes because I thought they were a bit much. I also didn’t add the face details- the eyes, nose and whiskers. I liked it simpler.

I crocheted up a little collar with a loop at one end and used a button to attach it around the neck.

This pattern is available online for free from wee wonderfuls

{made} — double-sided cd holder

My Father drives quite a bit between our house and cabin so we picked out some fun CDs for his Christmas present this year to listen to. I saw this cute CD holder in One-yard wonders and thought it would be perfect to carry in his truck… plus the John Deere fabric I found is right up his alley.

It is double-sided and carries 12 CDs. This was a pretty quick pattern, I was a bit worried my sewing machine couldn’t handle the thickness of the fabric when all the pockets were in place, but it sailed through without a hitch.

{made} — tissue and glasses case

Sewed these two items for my mother’s Christmas stocking. She is always looking for her sunglasses in her purse and a tissue holder is just a handy thing. They’re quick, fun, and cute!

Both are from One-yard wonders

This book has some really cute patterns to make that use up your fabric stash!

made — dice bags

I sewed dice bags/catch all bags for all of our “nerdy” friends we’ve made out here in LA… it was a lot of fun picking out custom fabric patterns for each of them. I think I spent hours at the fabric store :) I followed the pattern listed below, except I added a double pocket to the front of the bags for some extra storage and to give them a little more umph. I also found that the inside seams were unraveling a lot so I did a zig-zag stitch all along them.

Pattern: sew what! bags

They also have a group on flickr.
