{made} — fancy fixings.

I made my case a little bit bigger than the pattern to fit my larger hooks. Think it ended up being around 11 inches wide by 7 3/4 inches tall.

Wanted to use up some of my fabric stash, so didn’t use linen. I used two different fabrics that I had for the lining. I added some lace trim on the top pocket edge and the bottom flap edge for a pretty accent. Sewed everything with the machine except when I attached the lining to the crochet outer shell, whip stitched that all the way around by hand.

I added two clasps at both corners of the top flap to secure it when closed, some of my smaller hooks were slipping out of the side when I had it rolled and tied up.

The deep purple (almost black) beads I used are actually ones I had made a while back, they are blown glass.

Pattern is in the book Kyuuto! Japanese Crafts!: Lacy Crochet

{made} — bouquet clutch.

I’ve always wanted to make one of these metal clasp clutches and never knew how. Well, I found this awesome tutorial online from u-handbag, and I decided to give it a try. I am in love!

Picked out some fun fabric from the Urban Craft Center, the last time we were walking around Santa Monica, I could buy everything in their store!  Used a metal frame I had laying around that I bought ages ago. Picked up some glue, which I don’t think is the right stuff, but even though it is super messy seems to do the trick. I gathered everything together, dusted off my sewing machine and started! This is the outcome….

A totally awesome little clutch I can use on our trip to Vegas this weekend for the World Tea Expo!

{made} — purple star zipper bag

Sewed this lined zipper bag for a friend. It was a fun little project that had instant gratification. I will probably be making many more of these to organize all my hobby materials I have laying around my office.

Pattern can be found in the book Sew what! Bags by Lexie Barnes.

{made} — purple pointy kitty

Sewed this pink kitty for my cousin’s little girl as a Christmas present. Picking out the fabric was fun, went with two different patterns. A purple dragonfly pattern for the main body and a multicolored polka-dot for the underbelly.

I added the felt stripes on the head only, I eliminated the back stripes because I thought they were a bit much. I also didn’t add the face details- the eyes, nose and whiskers. I liked it simpler.

I crocheted up a little collar with a loop at one end and used a button to attach it around the neck.

{made} — pink pointy kitty

Sewed this pink kitty for my Godchild as a Christmas present. Picking out the fabric was fun, went with two different patterns. A pink floral for the main body and a tiny polka-dot for the underbelly.

The first attempt went bust, some of the seams popped when I was trying to stuff it. I think it was mostly my sewing got too close to the edge of the fabric. So, I recut all the pieces and started over, this time taking every step a little slower and really focusing on the details. It turned great and the stuffing went pretty well.

{made} — double-sided cd holder

My Father drives quite a bit between our house and cabin so we picked out some fun CDs for his Christmas present this year to listen to. I saw this cute CD holder in One-yard wonders and thought it would be perfect to carry in his truck… plus the John Deere fabric I found is right up his alley.

It is double-sided and carries 12 CDs. This was a pretty quick pattern, I was a bit worried my sewing machine couldn’t handle the thickness of the fabric when all the pockets were in place, but it sailed through without a hitch.

{made} — tissue and glasses case

Sewed these two items for my mother’s Christmas stocking. She is always looking for her sunglasses in her purse and a tissue holder is just a handy thing. They’re quick, fun, and cute!

Both are from One-yard wonders

This book has some really cute patterns to make that use up your fabric stash!
